About Roxanne
“I am passionate about the function of occupational therapy in bringing meaning and zeal to daily life and in the workplace.”
Roxanne completed her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, and graduated in 2016.
During 2017, Roxanne completed a year of community service in KwaZulu-Natal at Mosvold District Hospital, where she gained invaluable experience treating patients in hospital and rural-home settings. In her time at Mosvold District Hospital, Roxanne treated patients in intensive care units and pediatric, physical therapy, mental health, and outpatient hand therapy wards.
Roxanne then started working within vocational rehabilitation, attending to medicolegal cases for plaintiff and defensive Road Accident Fund (RAF) cases, private medicolegal cases, ergonomic assessments, accessibility audits, and functional capacity assessments for insurance and private clients.
Whilst working in hospitals, Roxanne continued her clinical work in hand therapy as a locum. She worked for two private practises that help with post-surgery rehabilitation for Life Rehabilitation and Life Hospitals within the Gauteng region.
Roxanne worked for six years in South Africa before taking a post at one of Australia’s leading rehabilitation providers, Rehab Management, to expand her skillset in return-to-work services, injury management, disability employment services, and safety and wellbeing solutions. In 2022, Roxanne is due to graduate with her Master’s degree from Stellenbosch University. Her dissertation addresses the role of occupational therapy in employee wellness programmes, alongside coursework that foregrounds vocational rehabilitation.
Roxanne’s work experience in Australia has broadened her professional development attending to course accessibility, the placement of people with disabilities into work, pain management, and home and workplace modifications.
